UTAS Inter-Professional Learning Centre
Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania
This project saw the renovation of part of a floor of the original UTAS Clinical School at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The space was re-configured as a multi-purpose learning, study and recreation space for UTAS medical students. Learning is facilitated by Wi-Fi and LAN computer connections for research, and a meeting table for group discussions. The area also serves as a tea space, with lockers for student bags, books and computers.
The area has proved a great success and usually has several groups using the space at any one time, for both learning and social interaction. This space has freed up other formal learning spaces and taken the pressure off the timetable.
